JOANNA
HOOD is currently Artist-in-Residence at University
of Victoria, British Columbia, where she teaches both
viola and chamber music. She is a founding member of
the Lafayette String Quartet (formed in 1986), the Loma
Mar Quartet (formed in 1998), and the Eclipse Quartet
(formed in 2003). Performing with the Lafayette, she
has won top prizes at the Portsmouth (now city of London)
string quartet competition as well as the Fishoff and
Chicago Discovery competitions. She also performs with
The Orchestra of St. Luke's in New York, and the Galiano
Ensemble in Victoria. Joanna has recordings on the Dorian,
CBC, Adlar, and Tzadik
labels, and recorded the music of Sir Paul McCartney
for the EMI label. Joanna has performed at the Spoleto,
Tanglewood, Adam New Zealand, and Caramoor festivals
and is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory
and Indiana University. |
